PROJECT BRIEF: For this project we were approached by a member of the RNLI Port Talbot team and asked if we’d be willing produce a short film for them. This was a voluntary project that required several days of filming.

The aim of the video was to showcase how quickly and efficiently this RNLI team leap into action when the call to rescue comes. In order to best capture what they do on land and at sea we filmed using a Sony A7Sii, a GoPro attached to a boat, and a drone with a licensed pilot.
We felt that the best approach for this video was a combination of voice over and soundscaping instead of music, as this creates a more immersive video. We wrote our own voiceover script highlighting important aspects of being an RNLI volunteer, and recorded it using a local actor. When editing we used quick cuts that keep the pace moving, mimicking the speed at which the RNLI have to move. The end result is a video that cuts right to the heart of what the organisation does and shows the dedication of the volunteers.
